Tropical turmeric smoothie

Ginger and lime balance the antioxidant-rich spice.

“Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help athletes recover faster,” says New York City-based recipe developer Julia Gartland. Another superfood addition in this recipe is pine pollen, an adaptogen that is said to keep hormones balanced, strengthen the immune system, and even boost metabolism.

Ingredients

½ frozen banana
1½ cup diced frozen mango
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
1½-inch piece of ginger, peeled and diced
½ teaspoon pine pollen
1 tablespoon lime juice

Hemp seeds
Sesame seeds

Directions

Add the first six ingredients to a freezer bag or glass jar and store in the freezer. Keep cashew-macadamia milk stored separately in the fridge.

In a high-powered blender, combine all ingredients and blend for 45 seconds to one minute, or until smooth. Garnish with toppings as desired and serve immediately.
