Blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer thrives in the challenges of the rapids.
Retinoschisis may have robbed Erik Weihenmayer of his sight, but not his vision for a bigger future. He became the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest in 2001, co-founded an organization called No Barriers to empower others in 2003, and kayaked all 277 miles of the Colorado River in 2014. The film based on his experience, The Weight of Water, won the grand prize at the 2018 Banff Film Festival and will be screened on June 14 at the No Barriers Summit in Lake Tahoe. Here, his love letter to the river.
