In honor of Earth Month, Furthermore asked athletes to compose love letters to the landscapes where they train.
Adaptive athlete is a three-time Paralympic gold medalist in alpine skiing and basketball. The first woman to win gold in both the Summer and Winter Games, Nichols also caught waves as a competitive surfer, winning the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championships in 2018 while seven weeks pregnant with her first child, due on July 20. Her long-term goal is to help surfing become a Paralympic sport. Here, her love letter to the ocean.
