The songs that motivated the Eagles quarterback to get back in action
As football season heats up, Furthermore is asking some of the NFL’s top athletes to share the songs that get them motivated. Each Monday, we’ll feature them here. First up,Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.
After leading the Eagles to the best record in the NFC and becoming the overall favorite for the NFL MVP Award during the 2017 season, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Wentz had to watch from the sidelines as his teammates went on to win Super Bowl LII in dramatic fashion over the defending-champion New England Patriots.
“I was obviously extremely proud of my teammates, but knowing that I couldn’t play was a very tough thing to swallow,” says Wentz. “Going through that, I learned a lot about myself, and now I feel it’s going to make me stronger and a better player going forward.”
The injury meant that Wentz spent his offseason doing rehab rather than the total-body workouts, weightlifting, and throwing exercises he does when he’s healthy. But despite the changes in his program, one thing remained a constant for Wentz: His love of music and using it as motivation in his training.
“With my injury, music was more important than ever to me,” Wentz said. “Rehab can be physically painful and mentally draining, but having music helped me stay positive and work towards a goal.”
Here are 10 tracks that motivated Wentz to push himself to get back on the field.
