Getting ready at the gym just got a lot easier thanks to spring’s slick evening hair trend.
Rihanna and Kendall Jenner may be onto something with their recent hairstyles. The minimalist, slicked-back mane Rihanna sported while performing at the Grammys this year, and Jenner’s similarly styled tresses at recent red carpet events, recall a fresh-from-the-poolvibe that also works as a perfect post-gym hairstyle.
“This is a very sexy, easy to do, off the face look,” says Michael Forrey, creative director of Sassoon Salon New York Downtown. The style first garnered attention on Balmain’s Spring 2015 runway. Voguepredicts it’ll be a major hair trend this season, as evidenced by the A-listers (this group also includes model Gigi Hadid) recently rocking the look. It requires little more than running your fingers through your hair; and takes out the stress of getting ready for an evening event after a workout.
Post workout, Forrey says to slick the hair back using your fingers with some SebastianGel Forte to hold the hair in place. “Simply use your hands to apply the product to the roots of your hair leaving out the ends as to not create too much of a wet look,” he says. If you want the style to be more sleek, like Rihanna, Forrey suggests combing the gel through your hair, which tames any strays. Then let the hair air dry for a natural look. For a dryer look, which is a smart option until the weather gets warmer, Forrey says to follow the same product tips but blow dry your hair back and away from the face. Tip: Secure the style by using two additional bobby pins right behind the ear to keep your hair from falling forward (Gwyneth Paltrow used that trick at the Oscars this year). Forrey says this will help with the longevity of the look.
“It's a fabulous post-workout style that gets your hair off your face, but still looks put together,” he says.
